Almost Immaterial Text
Almost Immaterial is a long work in progress. The earliest image in the series was shot in 2015.
The pictures are about mark and line. Mark and line that are distinctly photographic in their nature; in that they have been made using extended and interrupted exposures, multiple exposures and layering.
Each image contains a short and partial history of the light that passed in front of it. Light, that while momentarily visible itself, when captured by the camera produces marks and lines that were not visible to the eye. This transformative process is, for me, one of the real pleasures of working with photography; it has the ability to show you something you couldn’t see without it.
*An image from the series has been accepted into the RWA Photo Open Exhibition 2023.
